A
Brief History of Coffee
Part
3
Although coffee was born in Africa,
plantations and home consumption are comparatively recent introductions.
Actually it was Europeans who introduced it again, into their
colonies, where, thanks to favorable land and climatic conditions,
it was able to thrive.
Even
though the history of coffee began in Africa, large crops and
wide use in our homes are still relatively new. We have Europeans
to thank for introducing it again into their homes where coffee
is able to thrive thanks to ideal climate and land conditions.
Gevalia
History
As
the story is told, one chilly day, King Gustav V of Sweden, while
on a sailing excursion in the Baltic, stopped briefly in the port
of Gävle. The aroma of Gevalia Kaffe mingling with the brisk
breezes was most inviting. The King tasted; the King approved.
In fact, so enchanted was he that he appointed Gevalia Coffee
to His Majesty and the Royal Court of Sweden.
Generations
of the royal family have continued to bestow this regal favor
and Gevalia Coffee
still bears the Royal Seal of approval.
